"Its just some old junky IH lawnmower"

Postby Blueclawz » Fri Jan 25, 2008 2:01 pm

So I was told to come look at this junky old IH lawn mower today.....salesmen won't touch anything OLD and RED. The customer stood there and said.."yeah it was a good mower but I want something smooth like those zero turn mowers. Would you take this one for $500?"

"It's just an old junky IH lawnmower".....best line ever.

It got real hairy when the service manager piped up with "I can make that thing cut as smooth as a zero turn". I almost tore stomach muscle laughing so hard....I proposed changing the rubber over and running lower pressure.....and perhaps stepping up to a nice belly mower. Its doing finish work with a flail mower...not really its intended job.

I don't want to buy it...no place to store it and I hate seeing equipment left outside. I would rather help the owner keep it since he bought it NEW.

If the guy get real persistent on selling it for that money I will take first dibs and give it a nice comfy spot in my barn. Of course so would everybody.

Hey, I'm not that far away if you find any more junky old IH mowers. I'd kill for a flail mower like that one. Be perfect in the pasture. Want to trade it for a belly mower?

I have an old 2 cycle that was my late dads. WOW. It is like a lawn boy engine except with yellow & white frame & plastic. I still have the rear bagger.
I will get pictures. I have the manual some where. I been having senior moments. It been cold. I know that's no excuse.

Why is that when ever i say i have old tractors and mow with them someone will always bring up zero turn mowers and how great they are?
Its happened a few times to me now.

BTW; I seen the zero turn mowers selling for 5k($5,000) I don't think i have that much in my 2 cubs & 5 cadets and my tractor parts too...

Just an old junky IH lawn mower reminds me of my recent purchase when i went to look at the cub cadet 1000 when no one else would go and look at it. After i purchased it everyone wanted it. "I didn't know it looked like that"? My point is I go and look at everything thats offered to me no matter what just incase the so called junk is a "great buy". I always make sure i bring cash too so i can haggle the price. I made the guy an offer for the 1000 and he said cash today not next week? I said yup right now cash.....
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

I wonder if the picture name of "Lonelygirl" caused it to be flagged for removal?

if you've ever used a ZTR mower, you know that whenever you turn more than 45 degrees or so, you tear up the lawn. they're great machines, don't get me wrong... but, you have to keep the lawn pretty long, and it helps to mow it wet  . they're great for tough grass like Bermuda grass (known here in the North as "crabgrass"), which can stand wet mowing, and builds a thatch layer about 4" thick.

The picture disappeared on mine too. But when I clicked on the spot where it should be and then clicked "show picture" it returns.

Dang Peter, that would have been a perfect addition to the fleet.

Actually I'm a bit further south on the Shore than that. About as far as you can get. But have trailer, will travel...

I clicked on "show picture" and the X disappeared for a second, then came right back... still no pic! If it was titled "lonelygirl" I'll bet it was flagged...
