Here she is (57 cub)

Postby iamfranswa » Thu Jan 24, 2008 9:00 pm

Not sure if anyone remembers my post from March (in my sig) but I brought her home this summer. I now need to get serious about restoration. I want to find the 54A front blade because my father in law always plowed his driveway. (with the home made blade in the pics) but if I am going to restore it, I want to use the OEM farmall blade, and restore them together in all their splendor. Hope you like the pics. He bought it new and kept it pretty much inside all it's life. You will see by the lack of rust and dull paint, that it really just needs very little, and she runs so nice. Anyhow, thanks again for so much family like discussion. You're all great!

That's a nice tractor. 8) Tin looks good and straight, should be an easy refurb.

iamfranswa-

I might be interested in that plow that's on it if you're willing to off load it at a decent price when you get your 54A. I'm from Hershey PA originally and get back there once a year usually so I could pick it up. Sounds like you're in the general area from your other post.

Good looking Cub, I have to say that it looks better than a few of the "before" restoration pictures that I have seen lately. Should be a easy restoration.

A trip to the car wash to remove some drit and grime , a little wax on a good looking hood and maybe a coat of paint on the grille and your done :!: That's a keeper just as she is Orginial and there ain't many like that either....just ask BigDog :D
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

I agree with Ron.... I really like a well cared for Cub in it's original paint....

Any Cub can be painted, but a nice original one is special.

That Cub sure does show the value of keeping it stored inside.

Jeez, you are making me think now, maybe I should de-grease and power wash and see what she looks like...?!?

That's a real nice looking tractor. If at all possible degrease & power wash to see what it will look like. You may not need to do anything unless you want too.

I'd definitely clean her up and put her to work just like she is. Every tractor, except the Cub, I have ever bought had already been repainted, with a brush. Couldn't bear to leave them like that.

And boy would that one look good sitting next to my 450...

I agree. Get it cleaned up, use a little rubbing compound and wax on the sheet metal, maybe repaint the grill and you might be surprised what it looks like. It appears to have been well cared for.
