If I didn't know better, I'd say the Beverly Hillbillies are leavin' town !! Man, 800 miles seems awfully aggressive for a load of that magnitude - I can't even allow myself to think of a flat tire for example. Kudos on a successful landing and flying under the numerous radars that exist in OH !! Craig

Hey, smugglers hide their haul.... that was in broad daylight! Obviously Bigdog had a moth (bug) in his radar that day. I spirited one out of PA, but it was a couple of miles from OHIO. All of my Cubs were out of state, the longest haul was 1000 miles.

GI has some great tips... I have hauled a couple with the 'major' tie down being the torque tube just behind the dash and that is a good spot.

May be a good idea to check the bolts on the drawbar before using it, broken housings and bad threads may be obvious (or not?).

Most obvious answer - make 2 trips. Not ideal, but if all tractors will roll, safer in the long run.

I had no idea that Sam's Club sold Cubs !! Yikes, I'd ask about the gas mileage, but on a per Cub basis, probably not too bad. Great picture. C

Thanks go out to all for your most excellent input. The creative packing ideas will be a huge help. I don't want to damage these beauties with the move. It's quite amazing to see how you've tackled the same situation. Necessity really is the Mother of motivation.

Now, I have news for you....Laurel is a woman.

Hope that's ok around here...

One of the fellows helping me move the Cubs has a 21ft trailer; I'm renting a winch; he's using a dump truck so we may load one in there.

Ten years ago all three were driven into the barn. Gas had been drained at some point; a few parts are missing, not much. None seized, all engine parts are moving, I don't see any critters living in there. Two have plows, one a cultivator.

Would it be best to move the Cubs without the attachments, if we can?

I love the idea of backing them up the ramps...any suggestions as to where to attach the winch/tow chains?

There's a pretty good chance we can get one running. Can it be used to tow out the other two?

It was several years ago that Bigdog's darker side revealed itself. It was when I was pondering how I could bring the 3 Cubs home from Merlin's place in Cajun country on my 16' trailer. Two trips were out of the question since it's a 1017 mile trip each way. I had decided to dismantle one of them and squeeze the parts under the other two. While I was pondering, Bigdog snatched them up. The rest is history and I still have my innocent image!

I was sure Laurel was of the fairer gender. That's why given her location there should be several willing volunteers to assist her and her hubby.
I recall seeing a singing group by the name of Mountainlaurel. They sang Appalachian style songs accompanied by accoustic instruments. Quite good as I recall.

Since George mentioned my darker side I think it's only fair to say that I am now a much kinder, gentler person - always standing at the ready to assist with cub relocation projects.
