Bleeding Touch Control

Postby dirt devil » Sat Jan 12, 2008 4:34 pm

I installed a control valve and plumbed up everything for a power angle plow but I can not get my TC to work. The valve works fine in angleing but the TC wont move. there is no noise or anything. I am thinking that it just needs to bleed but can't get it. I have done what the book says and get nothing either. I am thinking of draining it in the morning and trying again but thought that I would ask if there is another way to bleed the system before I did that.

Thanks Dave
Dave

If the remote valve is working, the pump is pumping oil. Bleeding probably isn't the answer. More likely a plumbing problem. How did you hook it up?

Jim mine is plumbed just like the one in the pic below. I do have a different bypass block. It is regularly on e-bay for about $40.

Well that one looks like it should work. Unless there is something odd about your valve or a problem with the bypass block, it should work.

My valve is the same as Jim's excepet that it is a three spool instead of the single spool.

It doesn't make since because if it is going through the valve and back into the TC and out again to the pump it should work. When I move the TC lever back and forth the level of oil in the TC will change. All the way forward it will drop and all the way back it will raise to the bottom of the hole. Yes I know it should but it should also move the arm when it does this. I will be taking it apart in the morning to see if I can find anything.

Thanks Jim

TC

Dave
Mine is set up different, with the valve I have the tc lever is in the forward position and I have the lift arm locked with pressure on it using achain from the tc lift arm to the implement mount bolts on the torque tube. I bought it that way but it does have something to do with the pressure of the tc making the valve work

Well I don't know what to say other then the grimlens felt guilty last night and came and fixed it. 8) I went out this morning and started the tractor. He started sqweeling like crazy and then would stop I moved the touch control a little and it would start again. I am figuring that it was purging air out of the system. I had to add a little more oil to. After I made a couple complete strokes with the lever the noise stopped. It is just as quite as before and smooth.

I am thinking that if I had waited a little longer last night I would have had it. I think that it was just air still in the system that I couldn't get out. After looking at the manual and seeing how the TC works that is pretty amazing having your control valve and cylinder all in one unit.

Thanks
Dave

Sounds like the New England area is going to get pounded the next 20 or so hours. Good thing you are up and running.

Joe

Actually I don't. The plow is in the back of the truck. I have to take it in to work so that I have use their big welder to finish welding up the mounts for the cylinder. I will post some pics when it is complete.
