Most of the manuals that I would need are on Rudi's website but is there anywhere on the internet that Cub they can be downloaded in a PDF format?

The main problem is that I am stuck with dial-up where I live out in the boonies - I am working on satelite but that is big $$$. It would take me days to open and download all of the jpg files for the manuals that I need. If somewhere on the internet the manuals were in a PDF format, I could start the download at bedtime and let it run overnight, or even download the PDF files quickly at work and burn them to disk.

Tim:
If you think downloading a jpeg is a PITA on dial up try downloading some of those pdfs. I have a few on the server, but there is no way you will be able to download a 10 meg pdf and not time out. Without a program like Get Right, downloads on a dial up connection are very difficult.
That is why I have the manuals in jpeg format. Smaller files - say less than 1 meg or around the average which is 210kb, should download rather quickly with a 56kpbs modem.
Have to, cause I used to upload ALL of those file on a 56kbps A-Open modem.
There will be pdf's on the server eventually, but that will not alleviate your problem. Jpegs are still the fastest way. I can zip them if you wish. But then again you end up with larger files. Get Right would help there.
Oh I forgot... with Get Right you can queue files.. say the whole manual and it will download and save each page in order. That would help I imagine. And if you drop a few bytes, or even bump, Get Right redials, reconnects, then completes the download resuming a few bytes prior to the loss to create a seamless file. I used to use it a lot.
Right now for me to upload a gig of pdf's would take a while even on broadband. Not in the cards for awhile. I am toying with an idea. IF it works we might have ignition.
Does that help at all?

Tim/Terry, sent both of you PM's.
I've talked to Rudi, and come spring I'll probably start up production again? As I stated in my PM's to you, the number of orders I filled just over taxed me, but I was able to get them all filled before the holidays set in, but I just needed a break from the project as it was a lot of work.
When I start up the project next time, I'm planning on offering the sets in the "Etched LightScribe" only as that way I only buy one type of blank disk?
And I'll probably take orders similar to some of the folks that make products like Rick P. does......I'll offer up 12-24 sets on a first come, first serve basis. Once those are gone and I've had a break for a period of time, I'll do another batch.
Before I start up again, I'll probably do another poll to get an idea of how many folks are out there that didn't jump on the wagon the last time, and want sets.
Out of all the orders that were requested, I only had 1-2 folks request them, but never sent payment. So next time before I burn the copies, I wnat to wait until I have payment in hand. I just don't want to be stuck having a bunch of the opies of these things laying around.

Mike I had one set left over from the Rev 1 batch and I am sending it to Tim, Perhaps he can send it to Song after he copies them?
I have more that 2,000 pages of new manuals scanned and they will be incorporated into the next revision. If Mike thinks HE burned out making copies, you ought to try cropping and bookmarking a couple of hundred pages a night over a few month span. I least I got to listen to a lot of Red Sox games in the background during a good year
It will probably be a while before the material I have scanned is ready so if any of you have any hard-to-find manuals, please let Rudi, Mike, or me know. If you don't have them scanned, I can scan them at work direct to pdf and then mail it back to you at my expense if you will mail them to me.

Rudi,
It only takes a few minutes to convert a 300 page manual to jpegs, but all of them range between 300-900 K. I wish I could produce them at a smaller size so they don't need to be re-sized but I don't have that option.
I'll burn a disk and mail them to you as that seems to be the easiest way. As you know, uploading takes a long time!
Let me see how much more I can get done during my 50 hours on planes over the next 2 weeks and I can send you a package when I get back. I have a couple of them ready to go, with jpegs, but I should have quite a bit more done upon my return.

Mike I sent a money order. If you didn't get it I hope you would PM me. I don't do any more through the postal system than I have to. Lousy track record. I do all my financial business on line.
