hi crop cub questions .

Postby brian kov » Wed Dec 19, 2007 6:35 pm

i got the hi crop cub home today . thanks to Gil . it will deffinately need 2 new rear tires . the ones on there now are 7x30 is this the proper size .and does any one know who has replacements . also does any one know about the front wheels , if they are hi crop cub fronts do they still use cub front weights . at first i thought they were trailer tires but they have the 4 weight bolt holes i didnt have a tape nor did i read the tire but i belive they are 15" . i will walk down and check in a bit . i was surprised to see that it does have the hi crop extra wide front axle and the rear dualie spacers . but it needs a lot of work like complete tear down of the whole thing . :P

Original rears could be 6-30 or 7-30. I believe 7.2-30 is all that is available now. I think the regular Cub weights will fit 15" front wheels.

Miller Tire has the 7.2 - 30, but be aware both tire and tube are rather pricey.

We just bought a tube from miller, they are very very pricey. They sell you an oddball antique car size, but it works good. It's like a 36 inch tube, but it goes in ok, with no trouble, and it has a tractor type valve stem. The 7 inch rear tires are all that is available, you may want to search for some allis chalmers collectors, the G's have the same rear tire.

As for the front weights I have seen a picture of a high crop with 15" front tires and it had the weights on it.

While we are on hi-crop Cubs, a question comes to mind. I know they have 15" front wheels, but is the spindles any longer, or just the 15" tires in front and 30" in the rear make them a hi-Crop? Just wondering. Thanks.

Just the wider front axle and 15" rims for the front. The rear are rims and spacers.

Merlin,

I'm pretty sure the spindles are the same length - the larger front and rear wheels make it a high cub. If I'm wrong, someone will come along and correct me soon. :)

i know it does nt even seem like it would be much taller ,considering the jump form 12" to 15" you only gain 1 1/2" plus the height form the larger tire sidewall if it is even larger .then in the back you only gain 3". that doesnt seem like it would actually help that much for cultivating and such. :? im sure im missing something .

We tend to call them high crops, but don't forget, it was a "high and wide" option, not just high.

hi crop wheels

Postby don eicher » Thu Dec 20, 2007 10:50 pm

I have the 15" wheels on my cultivating tractor. They give me several more days to let my garden grow, before I plow it the final time. The wheel weights are the same as the ones on a 12" wheel. Don Eicher
