backhoe cub?
I found a listing on Craig's list, and I saw that magnumpi had also posted it here, in the "cub vine" section, back on 11/4/07.
"1970's farmall cub

Price: $2500.00

This tractor is not too far from me, and I gave the guy a call a few minutes ago, but I wondered why the listing was no longer there? Is it because the vine is pruned after 7 days?(that would do it, i guess.
Also, what do you folks think of a good-running Cub with a working backhoe for $2500? I can't really afford it, but I COULD use another Cub to run the Woods-and the backhoe looks like fun-and I guess these things don't LOSE their value, like stocks and stuff, right?....or am i just rationalizing?

Thanks, guys-what I meant to write, was it was removed from the Farmall cub list. Not from Craig's list.
If it works, do you think it is a good deal?

Hi Andy. You'd have to go look at it and figure what the cub is worth and do the math. Looks to me like it's maybe a homemade unit with just box tubing, but it's hard to tell from the picture. I paid over 3000 for just the used backhoe unit(Woods), then had to do all the switching things over. Here's a borrowed pic from ytmag of the one you're talking about. Rick

This post makes me smile, because I remember when Rick was a new member on on the forum. He posted:
"I found the woods backhoe for sale in the local tradin' post paper. It was a 1998 and was mounted on a Kabota diesel tractor. They delivered it for me...
"I cut off all the Kabota brkts from the subframe, backed the cub over the framework, jacked it up into place where it looked like it should go, and about three weeks later was digging holes."
Nothin' to it, huh? That's an EXTREME simplification of what is, in my opinion, master fabrication work. I was blown away at the time, as I think many others on the forum were. The "backhoe Cub" as it's referred to, still makes it onto my desktop screen from time to time.

Thanks for the kind words Jeff, but after seeing some of the new stuff popping up across the country, they make my stuff look amateur. Like the "Pumkin Launchers" , "Bucket T snowmobile", "dragster 1/4 mile Backhoe" There's alot of things I'd like to do to the backhoe cub to make it better, but now that I retired, I don't have the time and I'm way behind on everything

Rick i know what you mean. I retired in 1985 and don'r know where i used to have the time to go to work. IE Today bev and I drove from Staten Island to Carlisle Pa, picked up a grand daughter, drove her to Philidelphia for a 9:00 Am job interview, back to Carslile then back to Staten island in time for a party. Work used to get in the way thanks to the Lord I am finished with that.
Keep up the good work. You continue to amaze me.
Bill
