I've broke alot of pullies, even some pullers, and I've heated them before with a torch and they've still not came off. I've lost my patience and dropped the crank out because I couldn't get the pulley off. I've strickly been dealing with junk tractors, so you may have better luck with one that was taken care of.

Heat usually helps in removal. To re-install, place the pulley in a pan of boiling water for about 15 to 20 minutes. Then work quickly.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

pull it on until it seats on the shoulder.

The end of the crankshaft has a threaded hole. Use rod and a nut to draw it on.

Lock the engine or PTO up

Postby Charles (49) Mo » Tue Nov 13, 2007 8:55 pm

Torque on the draw back bolt will turn the engine over just like a hand crank. We locked up our PTO pulley in gear with a big C clamp.

There is a picture on page 32 of the GSS-1007 manual that shows a pipe wrench being used on the pulley to keep it from turning.
