Hi everyone im going to be instaling a new crankshaft seal on my 49 cub and i have seen how to take in off i have a bearing splitter to do that. But i have a few questions on weather or not to heat it up? and how do i put it back on with heat? im not really sure what to do there at all???

I've broke alot of pullies, even some pullers, and I've heated them before with a torch and they've still not came off. I've lost my patience and dropped the crank out because I couldn't get the pulley off. I've strickly been dealing with junk tractors, so you may have better luck with one that was taken care of.

Heat usually helps in removal. To re-install, place the pulley in a pan of boiling water for about 15 to 20 minutes. Then work quickly.

Lock the engine or PTO up
Torque on the draw back bolt will turn the engine over just like a hand crank. We locked up our PTO pulley in gear with a big C clamp.

There is a picture on page 32 of the GSS-1007 manual that shows a pipe wrench being used on the pulley to keep it from turning.
