Help identify my stuff (implements) - lots of pictures!

Postby Jvanvuren » Sat Oct 27, 2007 11:57 pm

Hey all,

With a recent tractor purchase, I acquired a bunch of implements that I don't intend to use. In order to recover as much of my money as possible, I'd like to learn a few things about these implements before attempting to sell, starting with what they are. I know a plow is a plow, a disc is a disc, etc, but I figure knowing a number (like a 193 plow) would be helpful. Also, most of them are for use with a fast hitch... are these implements specific to a Lo-Boy or an F-Cub? And of course, your opinions on value will be greatly appreciated!

Let's start with this one. Is this a 193 plow, or half of a 189 plow? Something else entirely?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

A spring-tooth harrow? Or simply some sort of cultivator? Looks to me like it wasn't originally a fast hitch implement, note the torched-off area a few inches above the fast hitch point.

And here we have a disc... what number? Is it for a Lo-Boy or an F-Cub? Maybe there is no difference? Sorry, my ignorance is showing :)

Here is a carry-all (Karry-All?). Did they have a model number? Lo-Boy or F-Cub (or same one for both models?). Looks to be original paint, has the remains of a McCormick sticker on the top. Not sure how to tell if the wood is original or not.

Last one... another plow. Looks to be original paint, can still see a McCormick and some yellow lettering:

The first one is a plow for a Cub. The others are fast hitch.

The plow appears to be the right half of a 189 since there is part of the latch bar still attached. The disk is an L 38 fast hitch disk for a standard cub. The lo-boy version of this disk has a much shorter spike because the lo-boy rear wheels are further forward.
The spring tooth harrow is a nice implement.

1. First is one side of a Cub-189. Take that trip lever off to convert it to a Cub-193. Either way, it needs a depth control lever and more parts for a CUb-189. This is not Fast-Hitch. All your other implement are Fast-Hitch.

2. 1 Cub-F17 Middlebuster. A lister is a planter. A planter attachment was available for this, which would effectively convert it to a lister. This is for the Farmall and can also be used on the 100/140 tractors but not a Lo-Boy.

3. Cub L-F3 Spring-Tooth Harrow. Missing one of the seven spring teeth. It appears that the Fast-Hitch prong has been replaced for some reason. The 2 parts with the ragged torch cut were originally 1 U-shaped part that served as the upright on the prong. The prong looks a bit longer than orignally. This can be used on a Farmall or a Lo-Boy.

4. Cub-F38 Disk Harrow. Farmall type hitch, which determines what tractor it can be used on.

5. 1 Cub L-F1 Platform Carrier. Original boards were 2" on the bottom, 1" on the front. Your boards all look like 2". The 3 original bottom boards were all the same width. So I assume they were all replaced. This is for the Farmall and the Lo-Boy and can also be used on the 100/140 tractors.

6. Cub L-F194 Moldboard Plow. This can be used on a Farmall or a Lo-Boy.

Thanks for all the help with identification, now I know what I have. How about some help with the pricing? If it matters, all of the implements are still in Kansas City where I bought the tractor... I hauled the tractor home, but figured there aren't too many people playing in the dirt out here in the Rocky Mountains and I could sell the implements better back in Missouri.

Thanks again, guys... I really appreciate the help!

Aren't some of the missing plow parts still on your tractor?
