Farmall Cub

Definitely a case of hillbilly engineering, but blocks the wind. Now I need a good snow to try it out in. Have discovered 2 things driving with it on. With no wind hitting you in the face, 3rd gear doesn't seem nearly as fast as it used to. 2- With a 3 foot piece of pipe bolted to the top of the transmision, and the canvas surrounding it, the tranny noise is much more noticeable. Please excuse the pix quality, but the camera I used is a very early model digital.

Actually, it is a great example of engineering. You had a problem and you solved it. I'm sure when the winds are howling and everyone else is freezing their you know what's off, you'll have the last laugh.

I think its great- even keeps the snow off the seat while parked, Looks like it took a bit of work though. I'm sure you will enjoy it all winter long.But-------- How do you get into it?

Actually, the bag over my head is so the tractor doesn't have to admit to knowing me.

Getting in and out is easy. The seam you can see just in front of the rear wheel is velcro.

The umbrella is a cable splicers umbrella I bought on ebay. The side panels (thrown away by one of the fellows at work who had hauled them on his truck for about 5 years without ever using them) are curtains for when the umbrella is attached to a manhole rail. There are hooks that are mounted on the umbrella that the side pamnels hook on. About the only thing serious I had to do was to make a stand that bolted to the transmission housing for the umbrella shaft to drop in. The main problem I have is that the clear plastic isn't made for driving and it really reduces your depth perception, making adjusting blade height a little touchy.
I'll get some better pictures in a day or two and post them. The only camera I had with me at the time was a rather old Toshiba PDR-5, which has been out of production for several years, but I leave in my truck for times when I want a spur of the moment picture, such as when finding an unexpected tractor.

Imust say that you certainly have a great sense of humour John. You took a lot of ribbing and came back with one better of your own.
