Marilyn needs your opinion

Postby George Willer » Wed Dec 24, 2003 2:37 pm

Marilyn probably won't be painting her Cub until spring, but it isn't too early to be thinking about color. Keeping in mind that this a lady's tractor and has to stand out in the barn so she can find it, it may not end up a standard color. Also keep in mind that she is an accomplished artist and will, most likely add some artwork. Here are some of the preliminary choices:

George,

I voted for number 4 but my 7 year old daughter would like to vote for number 1. Good thing she's not registered.

 I think number 6 looks pretty neat as a novelty color. I would be willing to bet that in the end though that it will be sporting a nice shin`y new red paint job.
Then came Bronson

I was surprised at how natural # 5 looked. It got my vote but needs cream wheels... :D The dark blue also looked natural but needs white wheels. I almost gagged on the pink. If you take the P off of pink and replace it with an O it fits it.
That red and yellowish cream that some Cockshutts used would look sharp.
The Allis Orange would make more people scratch their heads and read the decals.

Hey George,

I voted for #7. I think a different color on the wheels or rims is in order, though. I read or saw somewhere that during the war, someone at IH had the idea to paint some models of Farmalls lavender to appeal to the woman-folk tending to the farms/crops while the men were off fighting. I have a picture of a B Farmall painted this color. I will post it later.

George,
My strong preference of coice is the traditional 4; however, realizing this queston may be better served influenced by the tole painting artistic side of my household (she did a neat job with my wooden garden wheel barrow) I left the registered decision up to her. She kinda liked 5, 6 & 7 but settled on 5 probably because of background contrast thus 5 is registered.

Dad: Maw is a 'pink' sort of lady. Right now that's the way the vote is going. If pink wins, are you going to do it, or are you just a teas'n me like usual.

Merry Christmas Maw and Paw.

George, this cub belonging to a fine lady just has to be #8. Even ELVIS could find it in the barn. Now since you went to the trouble to have a paint color poll, and paint eight different cubs the various choices so we could see how each would look as the finished product, we fully expect Marlyn's cub to sport the winning color choice of the poll.

Number 2 (yellow) is almost the correct IH Cub yellow color but what ever you do George, for Marilyn's sake, paint the starter the same color as the tractor like IH did. :-)

Now if the Cub was a 1957 model the Cub could be pink!!!
IH painted the 1957 Golden Anniversary A series trucks pink.

Gotta go with number 8. Just use the right shade of pink with black trim. It worked for Donna Mae.

George & Marilyn:
I'm with Donny's daughter! Also I have a daughter that might go into competition with the Big Dog if there was a purple cub she knew of - so Marilyn's choice!
What fun!
Enjoy!
