OK now I am not sure which planter I have. What are some of the differences between the two? I will post pics of it on this thread soon.

Brian- Here is a better pic of the drive gear.

Also, the curved piece on the lower left in my overall picture appears to be #7 on the page I posted from the manual. I had mistakingly took it to be for covering fertilizer, but I believe it to be that (partially hidden) part #7.

How about I post another one! I did a little more reseach and found in the CBI-1A Revision 3 Parts Catalog_Planters_Cub-172 and 174 Planters:
Page 3 is the Tool Bar and Extension 1947-1949:
And Page 4 is the Tool Bar and Extension 1950 and Since:
It looks like I have the 1947-1949, as it came with a 1949 Cub. There is no pressure spring rod on the earlier one. So I have the early one and there is no pressure spring rod (like on the later one). Also verified becaue my tool bar extension is connected with the Cap (#10 on page 3) instead of the Clamp (#19 from page 4). Makes me feel better knowing that my planter is complete instead of missing something.
I'm getting more comfortable everyday finding what I need on the manual server. A few more decades working at it and I'll be as good as Jim Becker! (OK, probably not.) Hope this helps you Brian. If not, post more questions and I might even be able to help!!

I will check tonite it see if mine uses the cap or the clamp. I am still trying to get my head around if I have the 172 or 174. I have the hopper with the domed lid with the old IHC logo stamped on top. I didn't have the pressure rod assembly nor do I see any evidence like wear that would indicate there was ever one on it. I want to take a closer look at the runner frame to see which one I have. I wanted to take pictures last but didn't get to it. Hopefully tonite. My local Case/ IH guy said regardless of which sprocket I need they are both still available which is good news. Most of that pressure rod assembly stuff is discontinued but it doesn't look like it would be difficult to
make. I really appreciate the all the help, fellas. It also feels great to belong to the Runner Planter Owners Club.

Thanks so much guys. I am going to take pics of my Planter this weekend and I will revive this post on Tuesday when I post them. There is pile of good info here for me as well as present and future RPOC members to reference. I am off work on Friday and Monday as well for the holiday so won't have access to a computer..well a working one anyways. Mine crapped out at home and I am thinking of using it as a boat anchor. Have a great weekend all and keep an eye open for my pics on Tuesday.
Thank
Brian

Hi All
I hope everyone had a great long weekend. I had the opportunity to play with my newly aquired planter. I believe what I have is the 172 (please correct me if I am wrong) runner planter with the single seed (not the combination) hopper. So having said that I will need the 10 tooth sprocket???
I'm not sure which sprocket I need yet. I someone can help I would appreciate it. I see no evidence of this planter ever having the pressure rod assembly. Is this possible that it was made in a year before they added the pressure rod assembly?

Brian- Looks like you have the 1947-1949 version, as evidence by your last picture, you can see you have the cap as opposed to the clamp on the toolbar extension. Above, I included pics from the manual showing the differences and a picture of what mine looks like, which is just like yours! So it looks like our planters are complete, but I don't know how not having the pressure rod will affect performance. People used to plant with these, so I figure we can too!!
Long live the RPOC!!!
