Postby oldiron1 » Sun Aug 12, 2007 8:13 pm

Weird Observation.........I've noticed a few 1st Generation Cubs with the what I thought were later style 4 horizontal Bar Grills......Was this grill an option for the early Cub? Thanks, Rob

The 4 bar grill became the official IH replacement grill for the round nosed hood when the Cub design matured to the square nosed hood.

The story as I understand it--- The 4 bar was the only replacement available from IH for damaged grilles.

As I remember it, I thought I've read that the four bars were somewhat rare / sought after. if this is true, I guess then it would be because they were replacements and probably not as common as the other styles of grilles? Am I hitting close to something?

Spive - the 4 bar grille is not particularly rare. The highly prized grille is the 9 bar used on the 55 - 57 cubs. It had probably the shortest production run.
