Postby cjpenny89 » Thu Jan 11, 2007 8:38 am

Is this for real though 4 hours left and no bids.

ti looks to be a legitimate item, however, I believe there is a mounting bracket missing. some of the guys more experienced with them can tell you for sure.

Looks to be a good auction to me. He tried selling before with a reserve, did not get met, and apparently has relisted, with the ending bid from last time. look here.

There is 1 bid at the moment $349.00 US with 3 hours and 7 mins left. Looks like a steal considering the prices they pay. I imagine you are correct. One of the guys on the forum must have the required parts and possibly measurements could be taken, drawings done and the parts made.

Harder stuff has been accomplished. That would put one more reducer on a Cub and out of the scrap bin :!:  8) :D

I have two of these with the Cub brkt, if someone buys this one on ebay, I can get the measurements off mine and give them. They made two different brkts, one was heavy duty cast, the other was just a simple 1/8" thick brkt with a 90degree bend to fasten to the top trans/diff holes. Both of my reducers have the 1/8" style.

Buyer beware!!!

This does not appear to be a speed reducer, only a 1:1 reverser. The casing is the same size for the input and output. The reducer/reverser would have a small gear for PTO input from the Cub and large gear for output to the impliment to achieve the speed reduction.

Carl,

Their speed reducers/reversers appear to all use the same case. There were a number of options available for Cub and Kubota. I have a catalog page showing them, but I can't find it. :(

My thought is for a 3 : 1 reducer the input gear would be quite small and the universal case would have to be big enough to contain a corresponding large output gear. This is very unlike the Prewitt unit that looks like it could handle the H.P. of a much larger tractor. I'm glad Scruffy has a Prewitt. :D Now, all we need is a combine for him to run. 8) 8) 8)

That eBay unit just doesn't seem big enough to be a 3:1 speed reducer, but I'll gladly take your word for it. The input gear must be very petite!

Carl, I have two of them and they are technically 2.73/1. They also made one that was 1/1, so that's the only thing you have to watch for.

I haven't tore mine apart yet to see how the gearing is set-up.

I haven't looked at Ebay for a while. Now it seems they don't ID the losing bidders anymore.

That's an option that the seller can choose, some "double blind" thing so only the seller can tell who's bidding, for "privacy." Most auctions are still normal, with the winning/losing bidders IDs being displayed.

I'd bet it's often done to eliminate the possibility that 3rd parties could contact the bidder to tell them something's not Kosher with the auction. Just call me the Nabob of Negativity !! Craig
