DOOR SPRING USED FOR BRAKE/CLUTCH RETURN SPRING

Postby Clem » Wed Jan 10, 2007 2:07 pm

There was some discussion a while back about finding springs for brake and clutch pedals. I went to walmart today and bought a stanley door spring item #74-7565 cd1701 for $2. It was a near perfect match. I was able to make three springs out of the one door spring. To see a photo of the spring you can visit this website:

 Sounds like a good candidate for the "How To Forum" :?: Take some pictures of the before and after as I'm sure there are more folks out there that would like to see a cheaper way of making the springs themselves.

I'll do that. I have another Cub in the shop that needs a set. I tried to take one off to use as a copy and crawled under the floor pan only to find that all three of those springs were sprung too

May be someone could post a pic of an original spring for comparison. I went to Napa and bought some springs that look very much like the old rusty springs that the Cub had they work good and look good. I dont know if the old springs were originals but the NAPA springs do the job and they were only 2 or 3 dollars......
