What do you guys think about this Cub?
I just looked at a Cub Lowboy for sale last night. I'd really like to have it, but I wanted to get any other opinions 1st. It is a 57 Lowboy with fasthitch, Wagner loader and sickle bar mower. Engine sounds very good, everything seems to work except lights. Also has a rear light and toolbox. Appears to have original paint but needs repainted. Sheet metal is nice except the grill is pushed in. Has all the emblems. Tires are not new but very usable. The guy is asking 3200. Any thoughts?

You've got to figure someone wanted the loader?

Dave: One of the site sponsors, JP Tractor, recently had a '57 Cub with a one-of-a-kind loader made at a machine shop in Canada for sale for 3500. I've observed most lo-boys go for somewhere around 2500-3000 so if the loader is worth 1000 and you offered 2800, you'd in essence get the loader for free !! I'm assuming you're satisfied with overall condition. Craig

Dave,
Sounds pretty reasonable with what is included.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

That's funny--I've always wanted a yellow one even though the red one I have is really nice

For a Cub in decent shape I would expect to pay more than $2000. The implements are MORE valuable, in my opinion, when they come with the tractor. More likely to get all the parts and manuals too. Surely it's not perfect.... but a lot can be said for one that runs good and appears to have been maintained.
I like my yeller one, but the first time I went to get gas someone called it a Cub Cadet. Nobody mistakes a red one for a Cub Cadet.

57 Lowboy
red vs. yellow--actually I like them all, but I went ahead and bought the 57. At some point I'll have a pretty nice 66 for sale with a fasthitch. Unfortunately, I just dont have enough room inside to keep a whole bunch of these. Interesting how easy it is for us guys to get hooked on something like this. I bought my 1st one just to haul firewood out of my woodlot cause it was cheap and would sit outside. Figured it was not a huge loss if someone stole it. How things change!!
