tie rods

Postby prjones » Fri Dec 29, 2006 6:02 pm

I have 60 Loboy with adjustable front end. Both of the tie rods have welds. While looking for replacements notice different tie rod part nos. for Loboy and regular cub. Are they interchangeable or adaptable? thanks

Tom at TM has good quality stuff.... http://www.tmtractor.com/st/st_001newparts.htm

If you don't want new, try Ralph.

From my experience, the tie rods eventually came apart (electrolisys) but the axle never did. I figured I would break it before it would move, so I just primed and painted it. If you are not going to adjust the front axle and the toe in is correct, it should be just fine welded (IMHO). Hopefully Big Dog or someone that really knows will chime in.

I know that the tie rods were different between the early and late lo-boys. The early had the side by side configuration like the standard cub. The later model lo-boys had the over / under configuration for the tie rods. The tie rod tubes on the two versions were not interchangeable. Most likely, the standard cub tie rods are even more different.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

I know from the 90 degree bend to the ball is longer on the lo-boys than the regular cubs. Probably clearance because of that over/under set-up.

At one point, I think I counted up something like 8 different tie rods, in most cases there were length differences

Thanks. Now I see the difference my Loboy has over under not side by side like standard Cub. Thus the 90 degree bend length is probably the difference.
