Pancake light assembly

Postby Matt Kirsch » Sat Dec 09, 2006 7:28 pm

Picked up two 4411 sylvania bulbs today to fill my pancake light frames. I have the reproduction gaskets from OEM too.

Now, how do I get them jammed back together? The 4411 bulbs with the gaskets are too thick for the clamps go get around, but without the gasket, the 4411 bulb hits the back of the light tub and flops around.

Tricks of the trade? En "light" en me please.

Matt,

The 4411 sealed beam is a 12 volt one used on the late 60's/early 70's 12 volt Cubs. I believe this is the sealed beam you need for the 6 volt "pancake" lights.

Yea the new style will not work in the old pancaky style. I have seen guys try. It can be done with tape or rubber hose, but it is usually not pretty. You will have to go with the stlye in the link above to make them fit. If your lenses are good on your old bulbs, you can replace the internal light bulb. It is not real easy to get it appart, but it can be done.

Hmm, all the threads I read claimed the 4411s would work.

These are the two wire lamp assembly that are mounted in the pancake housing.

It did take a little work to make them fit, they are secure, and I am happy with the results. :)
