Yet Another Naive "Rookie" Question !

Postby magnumpi » Tue Nov 28, 2006 1:38 pm

This may be laughable, but are there any parts common to a Cub and an "A" ?? There's one 4 sale in town that I'm sure can be "stolen" and I'm curious. Owner claims motor is stuck. I suppose if you buy bits and pieces, you end up with bits and pieces. All constructive comments welcome. hehehe Craig

Offhand, I can think of nothing other than possibly some bolts etc. that might be common. No major components nor any of the implements are the same.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Lights, gauges, steering wheel, a few other misc. things. The internals as already mentioned are totally different. Units such as cultivator shovels, shanks, etc. will also interchange.

FWIW if you could get the A for a matter of nothing, you might want to sell parts off it if you had the time. You might be able to make a little off it.

Also,

You might consider "unsticking" the A, or repairing the motor...they are a replaceable sleeve type engine.

I hate to see a "good" A go to the scrap heap.....they are generally under-represented, but not really rare, either.....

If you are truly a rookie you might consider getting the A and using repairing it as practice for the Cub. Especially if you are going to steal it.

Hey Craig...the Farmall "A" or the "Super A" is a terriffic little tractor. If I had your opportunity to get one for "nearly free" you wouldn't have to twist my BIG 'Ol ARM far at all :!:  GO FOR HER SON :!: :D

P.S. Craig...A LOT of Cub owners her on the board ALSO OWN Farmall A's so help for you and your "A" restoration project can be found on the FARMALL/IH/CASE tractor area of this Forum.
