What song do you sing??

Postby BigBill » Wed Nov 01, 2006 8:43 am

What song do you sing while driving your cub?

I can't get the "GREEN ACRES" song out of my head when i'm on my cub.

No i'm not losing it, i just moved to the country and i should of did it years ago. I feel like i'm born again, like i'm alive and enjoy everyday to the fullest like i never had before.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Be very careful talking about Mr. Hainey (sp?). His nephew is a member of this forum. :D I don't know what he sings. Maybe that old Gene Autry song 'I'm back in the saddle again'.

Pat Butram was Gene Autry's sidekick if I remember right.

Recorded by Hank Williams
Written by Hank Williams and Fred Rose

KEY: E CAPO: 2nd PLAY: D

KAW- [Dm] LIGA, was a wooden Indian standing by the door
He fell in love with an Indian maid over in the antique store
KAW-LIGA - A, just stood there and never let it [A7] show
So she could never answer "YES" or [Dm] "NO".

He always wore his Sunday feathers and held a tomahawk
The maiden wore her beads and braids and hoped someday he'd talk
KAW-LIGA - A, too stubborn to ever show a sign
Because his heart was made of knotty pine.

CHORUS
[D] Poor ol' KAW-LIGA, he never got a kiss
[G] Poor ol' KAW-LIGA, he don't know what he missed
[D] Is it any wonder that his face is [A7] red
KAW-LIGA, that poor ol' wooden [D] head. ... [Dm]

KAW-LIGA, was a lonely Indian never went nowhere
His heart was set on the Indian maiden with the coal black hair
KAW-LIGA - A, just stood there and never let it show
So she could never answer "YES" or "NO".

Then one day a wealthy customer bought the Indian maid
And took her, oh, so far away, but ol' KAW-LIGA stayed
KAW-LIGA - A, just stands there as lonely as can be
And wishes he was still an old pine tree.

CHORUS
Luck favors those who are prepared

If you all had ever heard me sing, you would know why I don't sing while driving my cub.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

I've heard things about the dogs howling on the chains when you're singing. :) Poor, poor animals. Why, there oughta be a law against animal cruelty with you singing, and those poor animals just have to stay there and take it. They can't get away, and I've heard you could get closer to being on key if'n you didn't sing!

Just kidding!

where you drink pink champagne and it tastes lust like cherry-cola
c-o-l-a cola
She walked up to me and asked me to dance
I asked her her nameand in a dark brown voice she said Lola

It's time to start practicing your favorite song. We are planning a barn dance for Saturday evening of the Buckeye Cub Tug next year. We will have a DJ with tons of Karaoke music. We could even have a contest for the best singer. No excuses! There's plenty of time.

Well.....

As I've mentioned before, if I'm doing something that makes me nervous of tipping over, I tend to sing the Mariner's hymn..........

Normally, however, it's an Al Jolson selection........I have many favourites.

When I'm driving Rose;

Written By Neil Young.

Love is a rose
but you better not pick it
It only grows when it's on the vine.
A handful of thorns and
you'll know you've missed it
You lose your love
when you say the word "mine".

And when I'm driving Roland;

Written By Warren Zevon.

Roland was a warrior from the Land of the Midnight Sun
With a Thompson gun for hire, fighting to be done
The deal was made in Denmark on a dark and stormy day
So he set out for Biafra to join the bloody fray

Through sixty-six and seven they fought the Congo war
With their fingers on their triggers, knee-deep in gore
For days and nights they battled the Bantu to their knees
They killed to earn their living and to help out the Congolese
Roland the Thompson gunner...

His comrades fought beside him - Van Owen and the rest
But of all the Thompson gunners, Roland was the best
So the CIA decided they wanted Roland dead
That son-of-a-***** Van Owen blew off Roland's head

Roland the headless Thompson gunner
Norway's bravest son
Time, time, time
For another peaceful war
But time stands still for Roland

You see Roland was headless when I brought him home.

Plow to the end of the row by Adreinne Young.

Heard it on Garrison Keillors program, been in my head ever since when I think about the Cub. Would make a good anthem for the Cub, maybe?

Dan, I just checked out that link to the song, Plow to the End of the Row, thats a good song. I like listening to Prairie Home Companion too, I have family in Minnesota, and my dad went to one of the shows once.
