more grader blade questions

Postby prjones » Mon Oct 09, 2006 7:48 pm

My 58 Cub came with grader blade however I want to plow snow with my 59 Loboy. I know that I will have to change parts. I figure I will need axle hanger bracket, pressure spring assembly, Right and left brace. Am I correct or will I have to change other parts too
I was also told that blade cannot be midmount on Loboy due to clearance is that correct
Thanks again

You might be further ahead to try to find a lo-boy blade. I think someone just advertised having 2 of them on the for-sale forum. And you are right on the mid mount.

Thanks but Florida is too far. But gives me price range.
Does the L in blade L-54 stand for Loboy?

Yeah, if you were to buy all the parts you needed to mount your blade on the LoBoy, you'd:

1. Take forever get there because individual parts are rare, and Murhpy's Law stipulates that that one special part you're missing will NEVER pop up for sale ANYWHERE.
2. Spend way more than a good used complete L54 with all the right parts, especially if you tried to buy them all as reproductions from TM Tractor.

TM has all the reproduction parts you need, but probably to the tune of $300 or so. I priced the parts to convert my L54 blade to mount on my Farmall... but before you get any ideas, I'm not interested in a trade :) I still want to be able to mount the blade on either tractor.

I went to TM site and the 4 parts I think I need are 259 plus shipping.
Someone did approach me about a trade but I also would like to keep plow for both tractors.
I guess the smart thing to do would be wait and find blade for sale. I did see Loboy locally with blade for 1500. Does not appear to be a bad price but I do not think another tractor would go over.

Buy the tractor and blade, sell the tractor. You'll probably get the blade for free, or nearly so. :D
