Dating implements ??

Postby huntingpal » Sun Oct 01, 2006 4:06 pm

I was wondering if there is a way to date implements as to the year or period of years that they were made. I brought home a 194 plow today and was thinking it would be nice to know an aproximate date as to when it was made. I also have a #3 feild cultivator. Anyone know how to figure out dates of manufacture? Thanks!

The early 194 used a longer land side and didn't require a stay chain fastened to the rear of the depth lever. I don't know when the change was made.

Pal,

The long land side extends roughly 32" behind the plow point. The later one is considerably shorter.

landslide

Postby huntingpal » Sun Oct 01, 2006 7:56 pm

I just went out and measured mine and it is 34 inches from tip of plow point to the back of the landslide. So I would geuss it would definately be an earlier made plow. That would meen that the depth control lever that I have with this plow didn't come originally with it as it has the place for the stay chain to hook. Thanks for the help as I am trying to match things up with tractors as they would have with them when they were new. I have a 48 that I will use this plow with and a fast hitch plow that I use on my 59 tractor. Thanks for the help.
