The reason you see variations of battery box lids is because of remakes and replicas. The original design has not changed.

Some replicas have square edges thats not what the orignals look like. The orignals had rolled edges.

There were minor changes to the boxes. Some of the tops has 4 rubber bumpers, some had 2. As far as I know, the tops were interchangeable.

Some did have 4 rubber bumpers, some 2, I have some yellow lids, that have no bumpers, they have small little brackets on the bottom side of the lid. Brandon.

I'm looking to buy a battery box for my Cub - who makes a replica that is close to the original? I remember some discussion on some makes being inferior and I want a good box that is like the original. Thanks.

Joey,

I was at cubfest in ohio this summer and there was a man and his wife selling battery boxes that were exactly like the originals. There was only about four venders there so someone at cubfest would know the sales person.

The box maker is Norm Quay of degraff, ohio. George Willer knows him I believe.

Also Tom at TM sells a real well made one. All the parts are interchangable with an original too.

I had some trouble getting the ground to fit on the battery (filler caps in the way) so I ended up getting a longer strap and bolting to the base of the box..... only trouble is now the front won't fit on the box. Haven't decided what to do, but I am not too troubled about no front or lid at the moment. Even though they are painted up nice!

TRY YOUR IH DEALER.
THEY HAVE ORIGINAL ONES......NOT THOSE JUNK REMAKES.
IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT YOUR DEALER THEY WON'T BE AROUND ANY LONGER AND THEN WE WILL HEAR MORE WH.....ING THAT THERE IS NOT A LOCAL DEALER IN MY AREA.......WONDER WHY?
IT IS WELL WORTH SPENDING A LITTLE EXTRA.

Mike,

Sorry, but I can't let this can of worms go by. :(

I know EXACTLY why we don't have a local dealer and I know EXACTLY why he's no longer there. It has nothing to do with us not supporting him and has everything to do with very high prices and extremely poor service. Customers won't flock to any business just to get screwed over!

I don't miss him at all... after all, I can also order parts too, and I can usually get the order right and have the parts quicker.

It's very much worth supporting the guys like Norm Quay, TM Tractor Parts, J.P. Salvage and others who offer a very high quality product and good customer service.

I doubt you have even seen all the "junk remakes". Some are far better than the original IH product and don't cost any more.

I feel better now. :D :D :D

I'm with George. Our local Dealer, you can't deal with him. You go in there and it's like their put out to help you. Prices aside, Service wise they suck. They know we are IH collectors and make no effort at all to help us, even if we bring in the part numbers for them. Maybe Case IH quit having Customer Service Training or Something!

My dad went to our local dealer to buy a new Cub Cadet. The dealer informed him he didn't want one of those. Can you believe that? My dad needed a mower, researched them on the internet himself, went to just hand them the money, and they turned him away.

People Like Tim at TM, and Ralph, Service the customer. I've yet to send Ralph an email, where he didn't reply, even if he didn't have the part. That's more than I can say for my local IH dealer. Brandon

I guess you guys can deal with "one bolt fits" parts. I absolutely hate most repro stuff, as most is poorly made & flat out doesn't fit. I do sell quite a few NOS parts to the Aftermarket MFGs for patterns and to use on their own PERSONAL tractors!!!!! kida makes me wonder how they feel about the parts they produce!!!!!
