Gas running down the tank

Postby le-lou » Wed Sep 20, 2006 9:06 am

I recently installed my new gas cap and now the gas
escapes from under the cap and runs down the
tank. Has this been a problem that any one else has
experience? The cap does fit tightly but continues to
leak.

That problem is what prompted W.K. Poor and Earl to come up with the straightening tool for the filler neck. No gasket can correct for a bent neck flange. Until the neck is straightened I wouldn't put much gas in the tank. (I never do anyway). That's how I deal with the stale gas problem.

Ron,
George is absolutely correct. WK is going to send the tool for us to use at Stonethrow Cubfest, I ask him earlier, so bring your new cap with you and we'll straighten out that filler neck too!
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

Here is a little more information. It does matter how
much gas is in the tank it will leak even if the tank
is half full.

Tony - the tool was originally designed by IH engineers to re-shape the tank lips. Earl made some improvements to the design and made the ones like you see in the picture.
