Nebraska account

Postby Charles (49) Mo » Sat Sep 09, 2006 9:12 am

I'm looking for someone who has an active account at Nebraska tractor tests who would be kind enough to send me the information on a Cub Cadet 7274, especially the drawbar pull in pounds or tons.

What does this mean? "the Cub delivered a 10.94 horsepower hours per gallon of gasoline" I take its the fuel economy, but I am not sure what it means.

Nik,

Yes, it refers to fuel economy. An example would be the Cub working with a steady load (not very likely) and delivering exactly 5.47 horsepower... it would run exactly two hours on a gallon of fuel. Mowing fairly heavy grass with a 5' mower should come fairly close, but the figure is hypothetical. True steady loads only happen in engineer's minds. :P

While the figure for HP hours per gallon is pure theory, one can compare in a rough way one tractor to another. What the actural farmer gets depends on his driving habits, how well he matched task to engine size, the soil conditions. Fords 8N etc do not come out so well.
