Antifreeze in the engine ---

Postby countershaft » Mon Sep 04, 2006 6:41 pm

I intend to drain the antifreeze from the radiator and drop the steering gear housing. If I don't get it back together before freezing weather, will there be enough protection in the engine block to prevent freezing ?

If I remember correctly, draining the radiator will remove all the coolant/water from the engine. 8)

Cub -Bud is correct for the Cub. Systems with water pumps often have separate drains on the engine block. But the logic behind the original question puzzles me. If the antifreeze solution when the system is full is adequate to prevent freezing, why would there be danger of freezing if part of it was drained?

Antifreeze is used to keep the water in the coolant system from freezign, it has no direct affect on the enigne. If it had the correct mix to begin with the leftovers if any will not be a problem.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
