Cub's front tires

Postby countershaft » Mon Aug 28, 2006 3:13 pm

Is there a difference in the rim size for the front tires when the tires are designated 4:00 x 12 or 4:00 x 15 ?

YES!!!!

A 4.00x12 tire fits a 12" rim, the 4.00x15 tires fits a 15" rim.

Yes, the 4x12 are for 12" diameter rims and the 4x15 are for 15" rims.

If you haven't figured it out yet, tractor tire sizes are:

TIRE WIDTH x RIM DIAMETER

4.00x12 is a 4" wide tire on a 12" rim.
4.00x15 is a 4" wide tire on a 15" rim.

Cubs normally have 4.00x12 front tires. 4.00x15 is for a Hi-Clearance Cub.

Standard cubs had 12" rims and the Hi-crop version had 15" rims.

I didn't bother to ask or look at the how part, but a guy called me and asked if I had a part and I told him yes and he wanted me to go to his house and put it on and I did. He had a standard Cub with 15" 3 rib front tires and 9x24 rears. Didn't look too bad. Other than that all the 15" Cub tires I've seen were on Hi-Crops.
