It could be like Jim said; the disk is hanging on the splines of the input shaft. This usually happens if the splines are twisted a little from over torque. I think a little unusual for a Cub. They could be worn maybe with a “step†in them which would cause the disk to hang.
Try this with the engine off. Disengage the clutch all the way and take a screw driver to see if you can move the disk around a little. Most of the time a clutch disk has a little movement with the pressure plate released. If it feels tight maybe just driving it will loosen it up.
