Cadet gears to 1950 Cub tranny

Postby WJ » Mon Aug 21, 2006 10:41 pm

I have a cub cadet gear set that are in great condition. Will these swap to my 1950 transmission case?

Thanks for any help.
If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use duct tape.

If you swap the whole set they should work.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

The Cub and Cub Cadet gears are the same, except maybe for 2nd gear since both the Cub and the Cub Cadets used more than one ratio over the years (there are S/N breaks listed). As Bigdog said, it would be best to change them all as a set, but they can be changed as individual gears as long as you keep the two 2nd speed gears (both the sliding gear and the fixed gear) together as a set to maintain a 52 tooth total between the two.

Thanks for the help. If the correct police catch that they have way too much time on their hands.

The Cub parts manual I have shows both a 16 tooth and a 17 tooth (sliding gear) and 35 and 36 for the fixed gear for the Cub. Cub Cadets used a 16, 17, and 19 tooth sliding gear, depending on the year and or model.
