Free Gas Cap

Postby BIGHOSS » Thu Aug 10, 2006 2:05 pm

A big brown van came in my drive about an hour ago with a small cardboard carton. Inside the carton was an brand new black gas cap for my Cub.
I am not sure of the exact date that I requested the cap, but I joined this forum on 7/18. So, I know that it was after that. Good Turnaround.

Phil;
The new fuel cap is a safety recall. There have apparently been some fires in the past and the new cap has an improved vent system. While plowing, at Cubfest, with my original cap, I had fuel all over the top & sides of my tank. Along with the safety issue, it can wreck a paint job.

Gas cap for Cub

Postby KBP » Wed Aug 16, 2006 10:29 pm

About 2 weeks ago, I emailed my request for a upgraded gas cap. Today the UPS person delivered it. Wow! Thats service. I find the design of the cap very unusual. I am not saying I don't like it, but I have never seen a cap that is so tall. Its looks like an air filter or oil filter. Anybody know why its so tall? Ken

Ken:

Safety :!: Better baffles and venting.. Cubs won't become Krispy Kubs with the new cap.. after a while, one gets used to it and it is normal. The old cap then looks kinda weird..

I sent for another cap for a customers tractor on the 10th, it came on the 16th! Hard to beleive! This tractor already had a tall cap, but not the one with 2 holes, so I thought I'd give it a try. Got to go chase his tractor down to exchange them.

The ones without the 2 holes were very early safety replacemnts, and form what I have heard, they are also eleigible for the recall.
