I have a guy asking a question about the J4 mag I have listed on ebay he wants to know if it will fit a cub lowboy . I said as long as its the C60 it should fit. Can any let me know the differences.

As fas as I know the J4 is correct for all C60 engines. There are other IH mags that bolt directly to the Cub. The H4 will fit. But it has 35 deg of lag angle while the Cub has 13 deg. I have not tried it, but strongly suspect that the Cub engine would run poorly with that much lag angle (timing advance).

You mihgt want to remind him that the governor timing will have to be correct for it to work. If iit has a distributor now, the governor timeing may be off. That's the reason the mag on Missey had been repalced with a distributor when I first got her (carless work in a shop).
