8) Cool Dan. Untill I got my cub I haven't set points for about 20 years. Its not somthing in common knolage any more. And it took me quite a while to rember all the steps. Even though I had done it on a car back then. I still had to ask quistions to get it right :!:

Billy,
That's a really cool 8) "How to" thanks for taking the time and effort to put it together as you did your work.
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

Billy: I will be doing this operation on an SA. I haven't checked for point gap but am I correct in thinking that this would be the only difference between a Cub and SA? Dan

Billy:

I made it a sticky. There is a reason why I make some of these as sticky's. The primary reason is so that they do not get lost in amonst threads that really do belong there, but are not set up as an instructional post such as yours was.

Excellent job. Please continue to do this, as these are the How To's that all of our members need.

Again Well Done :!: Image

Excellent Cowboy, but now I feel bad that haven't done at least a dozen of em! I do know how hard it is to get pictures and do the work AND how it's even harder to explain what you just did.

My mechanic (now instructor) friend did the ones on Rufus for me and since I had the distributor on the bench I did it there on the red one. It is a lot easier to do on the bench! Now I just need to hear it run!

Thanks again!

8) Wow thanks Rudi :!: I rate my own sticky now. Than just makes me feel good :!: I wanted to get it all together in one place. And like everyone did to post tips to make a good job a great one. I am on dial up and it was a pain to search through 3 or 4 posts to get all the info to do it. Like Larry the first time I did it I set the points .013 instead of .020 but I didn't catch it for about six months. I was running on a 12v battery and no ballest resistor why it didn't burn up I don't know.

:P Dan don't hold me to this but when I bought my first point kit I think it said it was for Cub's A's and B's. So it may be the same distributor but I do not know.

 Larry buddy :!: Its somthing I have wanted to do for quite some time. I had the parts to do it. And thaks to Jeff yesterday I went out and did it.

Distributor is basicly the same, no difference in doing tune-up. Super A engine TDC marker is on the flywheel, no nice pointer like the Cub.

Did my 56 lo-boy come with that cover between the points and rotor? I have never seen one on it. I like the post as I replaced my points with distributor mounted and it was hard getting to top of lobe by hand cranking and not havig a second set of eyes.

Hi Free bird :P

Yep you should have that cover. It helps keep dirt out of the points.
