Would anyone have a cross number for the Case/IH white #901. My paint store cannot find the dupont number for it. All help appreciated ASAP...

If your paint store is a Dupont store, they should also sell the Nason line by Dupont, and a match in Nason, Ful-Cryl II (acrylic enamel) is 4076ID. It is 1969 Ford "New Lime". Maybe they can cross that to a Dupont paint, but I use it on Cub Cadets for the 901 white and like it. It's about $22-$23 a qt, a lot cheaper than Centari. I had a paint sample from a NOS gallon can of IH white I had, and the new lime is what the Dupont store computer came up with as a match, and it is as good a match as I've seen.

Dave:
It is on the Cub Manual Server under McCormick Deering IH Farmall, Paint Chart in the Paint, Decals & Other Finish Questions Section.
The Paint Chart is current as of today with the info I have available.. gleaned from the net, UAP/NAPA, Paul B and other sources..
If anyone has any other codes, I would appreciate them.
gitractorman: Crossfire = 53A3965 is not correct for IH-901 it is correct for IH-902

Re: dupont paint number for 901 IH/Case white
I know this is an old thread but had an interesting experience with NAPA yesterday trying to get this paint mixed so thought I would share.
So I started out giving the lady on the phone the Martin Seynour/Napa = 99L-3965 number. She said it did not come up at all. So I asked her if she could cross reference other numbers, she said yes for dupont so I gave her #4976 and she said that came up as Green. Then she offered to call Martin Seynour and call me back. She asked what paint I was trying to match and I told her International Harvester #901 White.
When she called back she told me they said IH 901 was red and the Martin Seynour number I gave here was not valid. For some reason earlier I had forgot to ask about sherwin williams cross reference and when I did she explained that MArtin Seynour was Sherwin Williams and she could check that number, so I gave her #4327. She told me it came up as single stage white but no reference to IH White. She checked the mix and it was not a pure white so I decided to go with it. I had them mix a pint to try it out at just under $30 (Ouch).
I asked for reducer while I was there and didn't look at it, but turns out its Hardener at another $18 for what looks like half a pint. When I left they told me mix it 70/30. I have some Xylene which is thinner for Epoxies and Enamel and was wondering if this will work. I do not have a spray gun so I am going to try the Preval aerosol spray gun system which cost me $5 and it says to thin at 4:1. I am only painting implements but new to the whole mixing of real paint ect. so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: dupont paint number for 901 IH/Case white
Well I thought there would be more interest in the fact that NAPA and Martin Seynour are telling me the paint codes on rudi's spreadsheet are invalid. I hope it turns out okay. Will hopefully get to spray some this weekend.
Here is whats on the label for what I ended up with cross referencing the Sherwin Williams code.
UFN:4636409
53-4327-00-A
White
Crossfire Silver 5.0 A/E
Effective Date: 10/10/2008
CODE:94917
2011 Universal Color

Re: dupont paint number for 901 IH/Case white
It's not surprising to find that those old paint codes are no longer valid. Also, 901 white does have a greenish tint to it, when compared to other whites, so that could be the confusion.
It's really hard to tell them all apart, but 901 white is a bit greenish or olive (used in the 1950s-1960s), 902 white is much more like bright white (used in 1967 to 1969 only), and 935 white (used in the 1970s forward) is more of a creamy white but closer to 901 white. I've just used 935 white instead of 901 white, because it's readily available, and I think it looks better than the 901 white. Nobody can tell the difference unless all 3 are sitting next to each other.
I'd watch how and what you mix the paint with, and get the correct thinner/reducers recommended by the paint supplier. It doesn't take much of the wrong mix to really screw up the paint and how it cures/hardens. After all the work put in for prep, sanding, cleaning, I always make sure that the paint is mixed perfect because it's the easiest but most expensive step.
Good luck,
Bill
