Question to you all...
Last year mowing my cub ran great! This year it lacks power.
Carb is good getting plenty of fuel.
I have heard to check the timing...how do I do that?
Also, any other advice...to look at for the lose of power? Thanks

tucker,
are the spindles greased? mower belts at good tension? are you sure your carb is clean? when i mow for the first time of the season, i just grease my cub and then after if i find that i lose power, i will tune up the tractor. i usually find that the top of the sediment bowl (inside the part where it lets fuel out) is dirty and the screen inside the fuel inlet of the carb is mucky.

Hey Tucker , have you tried adjusting the valves?
I adjusted the valves on my 57 Lo- boy and wow what a surprise all the valves were tight and after a proper adjust my Cub had a signifacant increase in power, it was like night and day comparison. I got the specs from Rudi and a few gaskets at Napa and went at it , it was fun and easy to do.....
