Running out of gas

Postby Soldner » Tue Jun 13, 2006 7:21 am

Here's the situation, The cub will start right up with the choke and run fine, until you start to idle it up. Then it will sputter and die. It'll restart only if the choke is on, and will happen again. If it does stay running, when you go to let off the clutch in gear, it sometimes will die also.. I cleaned the carb out, and checked for good flow into the bowl from the fuel line. My concern is that... The carb is warped abit, and i have 3 gaskets on it... Could the gaskets be creating to much space between the bowl and the pickup tube??? Thanks everyone for your great ideas..

Carburetors can be tricky sometimes. You think you've blown out every crack and crevice, and there couldn't possibly be a speck of crud anywhere in there. You've set the float a dozen times and you think you've got it absolutely perfect...

Something still isn't right, and it may be the gaskets. IMHO, you probably need to raise the float level a little bit to compensate for the extra gaskets.

Very slowly you can fix a warped casting- this will eliminate the 3  gaskets...... go slow and you can fix it using washers on the low points to twist the high point down......... its really not that hard..
