connection to fuel filter

Postby bigdaddy » Wed May 31, 2006 2:56 pm

Does anyone wrap their fittings going to the fuel filter under the tank or to the carb? What product do you use that works with gasoline?

thanks

I'd love to know too, as the plumbing teflon the PO put on there definitely did not work.

When I have a question of what to use I use good old single string plumbers lamp wick. Not the type that coms in a ball and you have to pull a single strand out but the thinner single stran type that comes on a cardboard tube in a cardboard coantainer with a metal top. The same stuff we used on brasss pipe 60 years ago when I worked for my uncle Ken the plumber.

There are numerous liquid, paste and tape style thread sealants that will hold up under petroleum products. Loctite makes several specific versions of thread sealants. A "good" auto parts store could fix you up.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
