This is Getting a Little Nuts.....

Postby Rudi » Wed May 10, 2006 5:52 pm

I know that I like being able to collect my Cub Brochures and stuff, and yes, this would be a nice to have... but this is getting crazy..

Image

FARMALL CUB INTERNATIONAL TRACTOR ADVERTISING BROCHURES

I have been watching this for almost a week now, hoping I could sneek in and get it for say $15.00US.. but at $51.00US -- I don't think so... but it would have been nice to have em all in a Cubsters Jacket.. 8) :D There is still almost 3 hours left, not sure how high they will go...

I wanted this particular manual as well.. mostly to round out my Cub-144 group, but it would have been nice for the server as well...

Image

IH Farmall Cub 53 & 54 Fertilizer Attach Planter Manual, but I was out with Em and missed it. Got sniped at the last 30 seconds.. but it too was starting to get up there.. at $15.50US plus shipping --- and when they qualify it like this, I know I am going to get hit...

Overseas/Out of USA shipping is always more expensive

Shipping to Canada is about 30 cents more than from California to Maine, but they always find a way to charge me more. One guy charged me $8.00US to mail a letter it cost him $1.25 to put a stamp on.....

I KNOW I KNOW !!! I'm watching them too or well I was watching them!!! They are a nice set that is for sure but I bet Miller equiptment ends up with them. I thought maybe 20 bucks or so way out of my league...Bill

Oh yeah did you ever check those measurements? I can bring it to cub-a-rama if your going to come and the cost is still free.

Bill:

I have yet to crack the box.... I am a little unhappy with the shipper.. they ended up costing me another $10.00Cdn in Tax and Handling fees... cause they didn't check the right box... dang it... they ask if there are special handling instructions, you send em.. and they then IGNORE em..!

I will try to get to it tomorrow.. and let you know.. I am scared to open the box.

Gord's box came and they did the same thing. That one cost me an extra $12.50Cdn in taxes and handling plus the shipper didn't even package the sharpener in bubble or even newspaper. Just chucked it in a box and sent it. Holes punched through where the handle was.. bent the pin for the wooden handle... I am not impressed...

Oh well, at least Gord has one now.

And btw guys.. if anybody want to know.. I am ve9rhs on eBay... I always watch and see if there is anybody I know from the forum bidding on an item.. if there is I do not bid ever.... unless I have been told to continue if that member has reached his or her limit... some things are worth paying for.. depending on what it is...

Johnny:

If you have or your uncle has em.. can you send me an email and we can set up the transfer?

I have some of them... but not all ...

And yeah.. sometimes I wonder too.. people go nuts on eBay... I have seen myself get tempted at times to exceed my personal limits...

Organise with a fellow Cubber to have it sent to his US address, ask him to forward it, must be cheaper? And sure we all owe you for your splendid work for the board.

The price of $142.50 is NOT SO CRAZY (if you stop to THINK about it) :!: FIRST...the lister describes ALL the brochures as "IN NEW CONDITION" as well as the binder.

SECOND: I've seen just the brochures (individually) go for over $25.00 each X 5= $100.00 :D I have NEVER seen the binder before, and I'm guessin' that it is WORTH nearly the $42.50 someone paid for it.

The REAL DIFFERENCE becomes simply...WHAT IS IT WORTH TO A COLLECTOR

Hey Don...You're RIGHT (It's NOT NEW MATH)...It's just STUPIDITY...AND, as we all know...YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID :!: :!: :!:

My apologies to y'all who think my calculator is in my Bu_ _  The CORRECTED calculations should be as follows:

$25.00 X 5 brochures= $125.00 + $17.50 for NEW binder= $142.50

Country:

I agree.. but I guess I am not that serious a collector. I used to collect stamps until the prices became unbearable... with a wife and 5 kids, a business and university to plan for.. my stamp collection fell by the wayside. I am just glad I got my Queen Victoria's before they went throught the roof too :!:

Collecting is like anything else I guess... I would have liked to have that brochure package -- especially for the CUBsters logo on the front -- first time I have ever seen that.. but at $142.50 US plus shipping and of course I would get dinged for exchange on the GST and the Duty... it would have brought that up to almost $200.00Cdn.. and that is way too rich for me. I have Cub parts I want more than that...

But it would have been nice for the Manual Server....  8) :!:
