clutch pedal zirk

Postby denton » Wed May 03, 2006 9:03 pm

The background:
The torque tube (bell housing) on my current project was pretty much fried and had a lot of welding on it. I decided to replace it with one with a very similar casting date, which I got for not too much money from one of the more popular suppliers which advertises herin. Casting dates were a couple weeks apart. Still sandwiched between engine casting dates and tranny casting date. Very happy with that. (I realize it really doesn't matter in the scheme of things)

The question:
Does anyone else have a zirk fitting on the right side of the bell housing where the clutch pedal is inserted for lubricating same? I've never seen it before and my other cubs have not had it and I am wondering if some enterprising previous owner added this zirk to lubricate the clutch for some reason. I can't see how it will hurt anything but I don't see how it's necessary.

I suspect it was an engineering change at the factory somewhere along the line becase my 71 has a zerk there. Pretty well hidden.
