Another Seal Question:

Postby Peter Reynolds » Mon May 01, 2006 11:45 am

I am getting ready to replace the input shaft seal on the transmission, but have read that the CR 9960 is somewhat loose in the old retainer. I went to a few different seal supply sites, and found a National Seal that I am curious about.

The CR 9960 has an O.D. of 1.69 - the same as the National 474250.

However, Federal Mogul lists another National Seal with an O.D. of 1.693. Part Number 471465. Would that slight increase in the O.D. be significant enough for a tighter fitting seal in the old retainer? It shares the same dimensions as the 474250, aside from O.D. If I don't hear back, I will go ahead and try it and report my findings.

thanks

I think there were 2 different seals. you may need to take your old one to store to get a match
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
