Nice day for some fresh air

Postby Jason (IL) » Thu Apr 13, 2006 10:55 pm

It was a nice day here in Chicago land so I got three of the Cubs out of the shed for fresh air and a picture. All started up on the first crank, must of been excited to finally move.
I used the one with no grill to till my garden on Wed night. It has the rotovater and gear set up, it did a very nice job.

This one is waiting for its rims to get done at the blaster so the new tires can be mounted. I plan on working this cub harder than the rest to see if there is anything wrong with it. Ever since I changed the oil, it doesn't seem to burn any oil hardly. Which is good, it costing more and more every time I buy it.

Enjoy Jason

Hey Jason...I can just hear your Cubs talkin' to ya (as you're takin' the photo): "Drive Me FIRST" :D ..."No, Take ME for a ride FIRST" :D ..."Hey, Don't Forget to drive ME around the block" :( !!!

Those pesky little red tractors wil JUST TALK YOUR EARS OFF until they get their way! P.S. I see a LARGER tractor shed in your NEAR FUTURE!

Nice lineup! :D But I have to ask, what's a "rotovater and gear set up"?

it is a rototiller mounted on the back with a special gearbox that slows the tractor ground sppeed down while maintaining the pto speed. very rare and pricey when found

Cool, was it factory or an aftermarket conversion?

they are aftermarket, from Howard corproation. they are still in business, but the cub unit is no longer available.

Brett:

I have been looking for a Howard Rotovator for Ellie-Mae or Granny for 3 years now. Every time I see Cub Implements for sale or anything interesting on the side of the road, on back roads etc., in my travels around the province or NS and the island, my eyes are peeled for one.

However, the chances of seeing one in our neck of the woods is next to zero. THe disc harrow probably will do as good a job as the rotovator, but... I still would like one...

Only one thing that could hurt when one is found, would be the price.. they will be dear for sure....  :!:
