12 volt Cub

Postby rlreed50 » Thu Apr 06, 2006 4:39 pm

Thanks to the guys on the forum I found my 67 Cub is 12 volt. I replaced the coil, regulator and battery. I checked the wiring diagram and nowhere does it say whether the ground is positive or negative. I would assume negative but I'd like to find out for sure before putting the battery in.

Thanks for all the information you guys have given me. Once I get the hood painted this weekend this thing will be on the road ready to work..

Roger

Haven't run across a 12V one yet that was positive ground.

Something else I just thought of. If the PO happened to put a 6 volt, pos ground starter on when he put the 6 volt regulator and coil on, when I hook up the 12 volt negative ground battery , will the starter turn the right way???/

The starter doesn't care if you have the battery grounded to positive or negative. It will still start the tractor.

Don't chuck the regulator... I need a 6v one and will buy it or trade for it.

Are you sure it's a 6v starter?? Quite a bit smaller than a 12v one. This picture shows both the starter and generator on a 12 v Cub, both are noticeably different.
