1st mow

Postby brian c » Sat Mar 25, 2006 4:09 pm

Well, the Mississippi weeds in my yard beat my restoration project. Had to cut the grass before finishing up the hood bodywork. The Cub worked fine with Russ Leggitt's temporary gas tank. Had to fill up quite a few times, but I must say, it was thoroughly enjoyable. Cub handles the old 60 inch Danco C-1 just fine. I put new blades and belts on the mower. It still needs a couple of holes welded, but overall, it mowed fine after a little tweaking.

Now back to the bodywork.

Looking good. We don't even come close to mowing yet.

Thanks for the comments fellas. The bermuda is still mostly dormant here, but the weeds sure aren't. I need to do some spraying real soon. Probably should've done it already, but I'm waiting to borrow a neighbor's rig. Also, I did a little post-mowing cleanup for the pic. It was a little wet here and there.

Cub-Bud I have every intention of making it to Woodson Ridge. I should know for sure when my work May work schedule comes out in mid April.

Videodoc I'll try to get a pic of the tank for you tomorrow. It's just a plastic tank salvaged from a pushmower. Russ installed a shutoff valve in the rubber fuel line and put a cub compatible fitting on the end of the hose. I have it duct taped to the TC.

lookin good. I sure would like to see some close up photos of that mower you have there, and how it mounts to the tractor. I don't recall ever seeing one connect like that. Is that an all original mount or maybe a little yankee engineering??

Excellent job on the Cub! That is an interesting mower mount.

I couldnt find a suitable tank when I first fired up Rufus, so I sorta rigged something:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Bu ... 82729f.jpg I also had the fire extinguisher handy.

No good for 'field' use, but it was the best I could do. (It fired up on the second try, needed a better ground or it would have on the first try!)

I asked the guy at the dump to keep an eye out for one for my red Cub and I got my tank yesterday! Even has a shut off. Looks to be off a push mower or a snowblower, but should do the trick.

Hey Brian...Russ did a GREAT job helping you with your temporary gas tank! The NICE PART IS...NOW, you can USE your Cub (without having to have the hood & gas tank installed) and ENJOY IT while your puting the finishin' touches on your tank & hood! 8)

From the size of your yard...you need EVERY INCH of that BIG, DANCO MOWER! ENJOY YOUR CUB & MOWER! 8)
