White Demo Purchase!!!!!!

Postby Brandon Webb » Sun Mar 19, 2006 7:07 pm

Bought a Cub Wednesday night, found it in an old barn pretty close to home. It was red and had a white 4 bar grille in it. Very Greasy with cultivators and the serial tag was painted over. Struck up a deal with the owner and went to get it the next evening after work. It was dark by the time we loaded it, ran it by the car wash to spray it off. Went home and unhooked the trailer. Friday morning Dad and I went out to the garage before work to load some rims I had sold. To our suprise White Paint!!! I checked the serial number on the block, which I had de-greased at the car wash and it was 104,xxx. The casting codes were T. I had just figured it was a later model cub, well evidently someone had changed the hood in it's life. Rolled it out today, sprayed it off a little more(now I was trying) and I have quite a bit of white paint. I took some pics but I don't know how to post them so if someone will help me I will email them to them. Thanks Brandon.

It's got the correct hood. Just the wrong grille.

I know where one has been sitting for years....along with 2 other cubs and a lowboy.....but the guy will not even talk about selling them. They'll sit there and rot. It's a shame

I wish I could get lucky. I have 4 cubs and keep telling my dad I won't buy any more till I find a Demo. I guess there arn't many up here in northern IL. I think videodoc got the one closest to me.

Way to go, and good luck with it.

This isn't the cracked block cub, I didn't buy it. This tractor runs. Yes I will paint it white, but I have to make myself finish my circle cub that I have laying everywhere. It needs some pretty serious engine rebuilding, I already have the the transmission and drop housings finished. Thanks Brandon.

I actually might have found another one not 4 miles from it the weekend before. It fell within the serial number range but we looked under the hood and around and couldn't find any white paint so we figured it had always been red. But after buying mine, I would have bet you anything that it had always been red to. So I'm going back and going to climb under that other one and do a little scraping around the floorboard and see what I find. Thanks Brandon.

Kirk,
I know of a similar Cub owner. He has 15 cubs ....scattered around his trailer ...nothing for sale. Mother nature is slowly taking them back from "where they came". I can only sit and wait for the inevitable auction... someday.
