Scruffy's happy!
Scruffy got to play in the mud today, cleaning up a mess left by the track hoe that cleaned our creek. We got the new wheels nicely messed up. Then we moved on to nicer work... repairing the driveway. I didn't think to get the camera until we were finished and the mud was all worn off. Scruffy did a good job, as usual. He's really a great performer. Don't worry... he's not going to see any new paint.
Oh! Scruffy is wearing yet another set of wheels... I've lost count.

Scruffy may look.... well... scruffy, but he also looks like a fine runner and is in good shape. He is like many of us are.. kinda rebuilt on the inside, but heavily worn on the outside...
He is happy without a fresh coat of paint, (if you look hard enough, it looks like he is smiling {grille}), and that is ok too, cause a lot of us I am sure are not too keen on a tuck job either...

Hey George...I guess "Scruffy" was glad to be picked for the jobs! Sometimes you just need to do a messy job that none of the other "painted up" Cubs wants to do....SOOOooooo, ya send in a Cub that LIKES to git down & dirty! (I'm sure all the others were sad that they couldn't git out n' play!)

I guess I created the wrong impression. .All my Cubs are expected to work. Since this a Cub retirement home, they aren't expected to do very much of it. They are used, but not abused. I'm careful with Scruffy too!
Bud got in on the action too... loosening the surface so Scruffy could do his duty, but I didn't think to get a picture at the time.

George:
I have never seen an example of the scarifier (?) on Bud before. Any chance for details as in close up pics? narrative? dimensions? or stuff like that
Looks like another interesting project and a somewhat simple one to make as well...
Would a rod work as well, or is the chain more suited Does the implement have to float or is a specific level ok as well?

Rudi,
The implement came as an attachment with Casper, my demonstrator. As far as I can tell, it was home made from a garden tractor cultivator by adding the rear bar, making it wider. I have no idea how it was intended to be used, but I plan to use it after the plow in the garden to prepare the seedbed. You'll note the drawbar, which was made for the lifting single gang disk.
Scuffing up the stone in the driveway was a rough test and it would have, no doubt, worked better with either a rod or added weight. It's built rather light, so I might have bent it up. I'm sure it will work better in our sandy soil.
