Not for me either. Never given it any thought, but will it charge turning in either direction? The way the alternator is turning looks to me like it would be uncharging the battery. I always just buy a Chevy. alternator and it fits right on without any of those changes.

Hey Busdriver. Thanks for the morning chuckle. Now we know the real reason Cubs were designed with the offset. :D That would be a great conversation piece at the shows. I'd love to here all the comments by different people, especially the "CORRECT POLICE". Thanks again, Rick

The good things I can say about this setup are that the pulleys do seem to be well aligned. And the longer belt will run cooler as it has more time to cool before going around a pulley again. Have you noticed at shows how many alternator conversions have badly misaligned pulleys? Good weld bead on the bracket too. Will I end up liking this thing if I keep saying good things about it?? Naah!

Yep, you're right. It grows on you the more you study the good points. It even has a cut-out for the steering shaft clearance. I kinda like it now :D
Other than being different, the guy did spend alittle time on the designing part of it.

Well, at least it shouldn't take long to recharge your battery with that big alternator. Just curious though, how much HP would be left at the drawbar :lol:

Somebody went to a lot of work to do that conversion. He should have turned the fan on the alternator around for reverse rotation though. By the way, alternators don't care which way they turn, they produce AC current anyway.

Yikes the owner of that cub was a tinkerer! But seems to be 'quality' work. I think the birds would nest on the alternator!
