Making country Elliot happy !

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Wed Mar 01, 2006 9:47 am

We had some nice weather here in the Ozarks Tuesday so i decided to do a little maintenance on my cub hauling trailer. I pulled the rear wheels and washed inside the fenders, then proceeeded to spray them with rubberized undercoat nisde the wheelwells. As always happens on a project like this, I accidtnly got a burst of the underocating on the 2150 red on the outside of a fender. I wiped it off as best i could, but it still looked bad. When I finished I looked inside my junk shed , and there sat a can of Kroil. I wet a soft rag with it, and with one wipe the oversparay was gone, even after setting for 20 or 30 minutes. My hand was clean wehre the overspray had been to.

Wow John, thanks for the tip!

I was beginng to wonder about Kroil on the right brake pedal shaft, but it finally came free. Now I know why the bracket was bolted on the platform, it's a tough one, but made it easier to put in a vice to beat it out. The 7/16 deep well 3/8 drive socket will never be the same though. Got the bracket welded back in place yesterday.

Figured Country would be proud of me too, I went to Mardens in Auburn Maine last weekend. It's a huge one! Got some cheap tools. Almost got some front wheel weight bolts, but they were too big (had to check the parts manual, which was in the car cause I was coming back from the IH dealer.)

Speaking of KROIL, I just received my "SPECIAL OFFERS" flyer in the mail today. "Country" must be real busy spending all his money from royalties. Plus, I like the smell :D when the fumes roll up from the lathe.

Rick,

I've never used Kroil, so I wonder if the smell you like is oil of wintergreen? (smells like candy canes)? That's the "secret" ingredient of Marvel Mystery Oil. It's probably the best penetrant added to our favorite concoctions, regardless of the label. Maybe Kroil has more of it?

Ain't that a neat place? They have them in Gray and Portland, too, but the one in L/A is the biggest...

Kroil smells like Lestoil to me.... brings back fond memories!

Jeff, I have been to a couple of different Mardens (Sanford and Biddeford) and the only reason I went to this one is that I made a wrong turn in the city. Good thing I remember heavy equipment along the way or I wouldn't have known I was going the wrong way. Actually Mardens and the biggest Harley dealership I have ever seen was a bigger clue that I didn't go that way on the way in. http://WWW.MardensSurplus.com I like what they say, "We buy anything we don't have to feed"

Country, I may be down to only one quart of Kroil.... been using it some serious on the disassembly of the 50.......

As for the aroma of KROIL...I been lightly sprayin' Ol'Blue's (Tennessee Coon Hound) bandana with it...Seems ta keep the Skunks away...BUT, tha Possums are Coverin' Him Up!!! (JUST KIDDIN'  Don't Try This At Home!!!)
