Kodiak Karry-all

Postby Kodiak » Thu Feb 23, 2006 9:24 pm

I been working on this for a while and finally got it finished. I akso have been talking to Rick Prentice about making some of these since I know he does such quality work. I know I could not reproduce these as well as he can. So I sent him the drawings and early photo's of my prototype. It's now finished and works well. Standard Cubs not the fast hitch!!

Rick can fill anyone in on when they might be ready, cause he's quite busy as we all know!
Thanks Rick.
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

8) Very Nice Ron great  Is it a fixed hight when mounted on the tractor or do you have some way to raise and lower it :?:

Here's a little more info on this thing.

It attaches to the drawbar and your rockshaft. You pull the bolts that lock your floating drawbar in place to let it float. This allows you to use your hydralic's or manuallift to raise and lower the Karry-All. The hard part was getting the dimensions right to make it lift level and not dump things when lifting. Rick is going to make some of these and they will be avalible at the Cubfest in June. I plan on bringing my prototype on my tractor also, I'm sure Rick's version will look much better than mine. But that's fine I had a ball making this one from stuff around the shop. I hope to post pictures this weekend.....stay tuned.

Looks like a great job Ron. I have been kicking around ideas for one in my head for quite a while, but have been trying to figure a way to not have to use the drawbar. Was thinking about a couple of curved or offset arms that would pivot on some of the unused mounting holes on the final drive. One thing i would think about, is rather than trying to keep it completely level when raising would be to allow it to tilt slightly forward so cargo would lean against the backboard a little. in uneven ground such as we have in our area, if it stayed level you would end up with cargo tending to fall over backwards as you went over humps, terraces, etc. if you tried to keep it level.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

It's looking like rain tomorrow all day so I started looking for a picture that would show the mounting points. This one was taken when I first got the Karry-All together. It is shown in the down position. It travels fron 5" above the ground to 23" above the ground. I have a side board that I made to fit in the stake pockets to help hold a load on when traveling on uneven ground.
Image
It is also shown with bolts that have been replaced with pins & clips for ease of assemble and dis-assembly.

To all who requested plans ...they are now in the mail. If you are not up to making your own check with Rick, he hopes to have some at Cubfest in June.
I'll be away for the next 10 days (traveling) and probably won't have access to a computer so if you have any questions or request for plans I'll get to them when I return.

Thanks
Ron
