Your lift bar appears to be the problem.

“Indy 72”, is the Lifting Bar in your first posting the one you have ?

Judging by the tape measure alongside it, the dimensions are OK !

If it is not the Lifting Bar you have, post a picture of the one you have and, claim to be “cut-down to 8” overall”.

Seeing the “72” in your username, is that the year of your CUB or something else (don’t need to disclose that) ?

We need a better idea of what you have on-hand…

When I got the tractor I was told that it was a 72. When I got it home and joined the forum. I researched it on here and found out that the cub is actually a 74. I havent found a way to change it on here.
Your right when I looked back at the picture I read the tape measure wrong.
When I get home I'll take pictures of the parts not fitting .

Here you go.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Burch said in the email to tap on it with a hammer. Or use a grinder.
Not really wanting to hammer it in cause that's how the first set broke. Now I know the first set was wrong part.

Thanks for the new pictures, “Indy72” :{_}:

As you probably noticed in the picture of the broken Swivel, the part number 1874B had been cast into the part ?

Look at the new swivel(s) you have, and make sure the are part number is 1855B. Look even further to find the “IH” trademark !

As to the Lifting Bar, make sure it is 1” in diameter, too ! Someone may have replaced the bar stock with bigger material ?

If it is a genuine International Harvester 1855B part, there must have been a “core shift” during casting ? You’ll have to hand file the oval hole that the Lifting Bar goes through, BIGGER so that the Swivel fits loosely and, can slide around some ! Don’t get too ambitious with the hand file

I would not grind or change the Lifting Bar ?

Get to work and let us know how things are going…

… I’ve marked-up the picture of my Swivel to help you out !

The cast in part number 1855B is underlined with black. The IH International Harvester Trademark is circled with black.

When you are filing the oval shaped hole in the your Swivel that the Lifting Bar passes through, compare your work to the oval hole in my picture.

Maybe another can or two of DR PEPPER will help make the filing go better

They are stamped 1855b with the ih mark on the side. Come to find out on the inside of the oval part of the swivel there was a lip that over lapped. I filled it down with a file. And it went on. Should the bar rub the swivel at all or should there be a little gap. I have it now where it still rubs but will turn slightly.
Dr. Pepper wasn't cutting it had to step it up today with some mountain dew lol.
I'll get some pics of Lucy Bell and post them. Where would be the best place on here to just post pictures of cubs for everyone to see.

Good to hear the hand filing worked :{_}:

The Swivel should be rather sloppy; up & down; slide freely back-n-forth. As you’re cultivating, to avoid stressing things, they should float !

Here’s an image out of the CUB 144 Cultivator Parts List, showing how the Lifting Bar and Swivels mount on the Rear Rockshaft…

I thought there was a place to post pictures of our Cubs, but couldn’t find it ? Just post your “Lucy Bell” here for now :tractor:
