F Cub, LoBoy steering comparison

Postby Bob McCarty » Mon Sep 18, 2023 12:10 pm

For those of you that have both, how does the turning radius compare between the two (LoBoy has over/under tie rods)?

Jim Beckers response is the last one. loboy not has good.

I have noticed a difference but I do know if I have a loboy and a standard set up the same with the same front axel spacing and front wheel dishing to do a side-by-side comparison.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

I have a Lo-boy now previously I both a Lo-boy and an F-Cub at same time and and there is a very noticeable difference in turning radius the F-Cub turns much tighter and faster. That was over ten years ago so possibly I remember that wrong as I would think that the Lo- boy would turn tighter and faster but my memory says the F-Cub maneuvered best.

So I have the carcass of an F-Cub out back and took a closer look and compared it to the Lo-boy the difference is and turning the steering wheel from full left to full right is 2-1/2 turns on the F-Cub and on my 57 Lo-boy its 1-1/2 turns and the wheels on the F-Cub turn sharper than the Lo-boy . So that all said the Lo-boy lost some turning radius due to the steering wheel not being able to turn one full turn like the F-Cub.

Lowboy…needs 2 passes already mowed plus brakes to not miss a sliver of grass…10 feet. Mowing third pass return on 4th pass. F cub does it without brakes and is comfortable
