Thanks

For the primer I had a piece of thin sheetmetal about 1 foot by 2 foot that I shaped into a curve to fit the rim and used that around the edge to protect the tires as I sprayed. For the silver I brushed that on. Easier to get a nice heavier coat on.

She’s a looker, all right! Haven’t had any issues with her, I hope?

Haven't posted in a bit so here's a little update. Everything's painted except the hood, steering support, and front axle.

So it had a miss in the engine and I went ahead to do a full tuneup; new plugs, wires, etc. Found this. You don't think this could be the cause of the miss, huh, maybe?

I would be concerned if something “inside” cause that to happen. I can’t believe that someone would have installed that plug looking like that however there are mechanic and there are operators…..

This was a barn find and the seller apparently made some quicky patches to get it running and saleable. None of the plugs were in tight and number 4 was already about 1/2 way out. Didn't need a socket for that one, just unscrewed it by hand. Probably dropped number 3 while putting it in, which bent the gap closed, never checked it, just picked it up and screwed it in.

Larry from my Aviation Maintenance training/world never trust a dropped spark plug…..you never know if the insulator is cracked and you can be chasing ignition faults till the cows come home……food for thought.

OK, a little more progress. Starting to look like a tractor again.

The hood, dash, and front axle need paint yet but it's coming together. Can't make up my mind whether I want to replace the seat with a new padded one or just tie on one of those foam lined covers but the way it is now, bare metal with no suspension, is kinda rough on the kidneys.

You need a “deluxe” double wide seat…..it doesn’t replace the shock value that a regular Cub provides but the cushions do help somewhat.

I know but it's not a "real" tractor seat. :D
